Legally haunted

Haunted houses, ghost stories, and paranormal phenomena are often seen as mere folklore or superstition. However, there is an exceptional case where such a subjective and challenging-to-validate topic has made its way into legal history. The Ackley House, situated at 1 LaVeta Place in Nyack, New York, just a short drive from Sleepy Hollow—the setting of Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"—was the first home in the U.S. to be legally recognized as haunted. This case, known as Stambovsky v. Ackley or the "Ghostbusters Ruling," marks a unique moment in legal history. Enjoy this story of a legally haunted house here on the Swab podcast!

The history and Ghosts of Gettysburg

The history and Ghosts of Gettysburg

The Battle of Gettysburg, fought from July 1 to July 3, 1863, was a turning point in the American Civil War. It occurred in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, between the Union Army of the Potomac, led by General George G. Meade, and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, commanded by General Robert E. Lee. Lee’s invasion aimed to relieve pressure on Virginia and sway Northern political opinion. The battle began with initial Confederate successes but saw intense fighting on July 2 at locations like Little Round Top and the Peach Orchard, with Union forces holding their ground. The climax on July 3 featured Pickett’s Charge, a failed Confederate assault on the Union center at Cemetery Ridge, resulting in significant Confederate casualties and Lee’s retreat to Virginia. The Union victory, coupled with the fall of Vicksburg, marked a turning point, weakening the Confederacy and boosting Northern morale. President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address later emphasized the war’s purpose of preserving a nation dedicated to liberty and equality. Gettysburg is reputedly haunted due to its tragic history. The Gettysburg Hotel, Jennie Wade House, Farnsworth House Inn, Devil’s Den, and the fields of Pickett’s Charge are known for ghostly encounters and unexplained phenomena, making it one of the most haunted locations in the U.S. To honor the battle’s anniversary, now over 160 years, the “Say What Again Billy” podcast crew will cover both the history and the haunted locations of Gettysburg. Tune in for an in-depth exploration of this pivotal event and its ghostly legends. This episode airs wherever you get your podcasts from July 1.

Colorado bigfoot and the Washington Dc super soldier

There are two videos making waves on social media the past few weeks. One of which is the worlds most sought after cryptid. The infamous Big foot. In early October, A married couple were filming their train ride in south west Colorado when they caught a giant bi-pedal tall figure traversing the open plains. The figure is seen walking and then eventually takes a seat. Blending in to it’s surroundings. A common trait that is told by many people who have had a Bigfoot sighting. Many skeptics claim it was just a man in a hunting gilly suit, but others claim other wise. Did this couple find the most compelling Bigfoot evidence to date? Or did the internet get duped once again by the means of trickery or other elements.

Then in 2018 in the suburbs of Washington DC , a group of men driving on a cold February night came across an individual walking the streets completely naked and alone. What sparks peoples interest, is the men in the car filmed this strange man running at super human speeds towards them almost catching them as they drove in their car at a good rate of speed. Did these men potentially catch an experimental escapee from the surrounding area secret facilities . Some claim the government is in the works to make super soldiers. Or is this yet another story of drugs elevating the human body for a short duration. Find out what the swab crew has to say on this new installment of the “ say what again Billy podcast.”
